Prorogation

This is the formal end to the Parliamentary year. It takes the form of an announcement on behalf of the Queen by the Lord Chancellor in which he reviews the session's work. Any Bills that have not obtained royal assent by the end of the session in which they were introduced usually 'die', and must be reintroduced in the next session. However, there are some exceptions as to which Bills can be carried over to the next parliamentary session.
