Shadow Cabinet

This is the name given to the group of senior members of the official Opposition party in the House of Commons who would form the cabinet if they were to come to power after a General Election. Each of these MPs is appointed to shadow one of the members of the Cabinet, so that every Department can be scrutinised fully.
