Role:

This new Department, created in October 2008, takes over some of the functions of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (climate change) and the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (energy).

The aim of the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) is to ensure the country's energy is secure, affordable and efficient, and to bring about the transition to a low-carbon Britain.
