Role:

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) is responsible for developing policies to protect and improve the environment, and aims to make the countryside a good place to live, work and visit. Defra also works with the Environment Agency to prevent flooding, and to reduce air and water pollution.
